THINK ABOUT IT !

PARADOX OF OUR TIMES

We’ve taller buildings, but shorter tempers;
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
We spend more, but have less;
We buy more, but enjoy less;
We’ve bigger houses, but smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;
More experts, but less solutions;
More medicines, but less wellness;
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values;
We talk too much, love seldom, and hate too;
  • We have learnt how to make a living, but not a life;
    We’ve added years to life, but not life to years;
    We’ve been all the way to the moon, and back,
    But have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbour;
    We have conquered outer space, but not inner space;
    We’ve higher incomes, but lower morals;
    These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare;
    More leisure but less fun;
    More kinds of food, but less nutrition;
    These are days of two incomes, but more divorces;
    Of fancier houses, but broken homes;
    It is a time when there is much in the show windows;
    But nothing in the stock room;
    We are always getting ready to live, but never living.

The Child Angel

The Child Angel
(by Rabindranath Tagore)

Let your life come amongst them like a flame of light, my child,

unflickering and pure, and delight them into silence।

They are cruel in their greed and their envy,

their words are like hidden knives thirsting for blood

Go and stand amidst their scowling hearts, my child,

and let your gentle eyes fall upon them like the
forgiving peace of the evening over The Child Angel strife of the day

Let them see your face, my child,

and thus know themeaning of all things,

let them love you and love each other.
Come and take your seat in the bosom of the limitless, my child

At sunrise open and raise your heart like a blossoming flower,

and at sunset bend your head and in silence

complete the worship of the day.
